Another OECD data set

As you may already know (I just found out), in addition to the PIAAC data that we are all familiar with, the OECD also runs a survey called the TALIShttp://www.oecd.org/education/talis/. It surveys teachers and principals. However, the focus is on K-12 education -- in particular, middle school or roughly 7th-9th grade.

Looking at the questionnairehttps://nces.ed.gov/surveys/talis/talis2018/questionnaires/Teacher_Q_English.html, it strikes me that these would be really interesting questions to have data on for adult educators. Is anyone familiar with research or surveys like the TALIS that are focused on our field?

Amanda,

One that comes to mind, because I was there at the time, was the NCSALL research on staff development back in the early 2000s. Some of the TALIS questions on professional development bring to mind some of that work. For example:

Hi Amanda, et. al.

Adult education Researchers Cristine Smith and Marilyn Gillespie studied adult basic skills professional development https://s3.amazonaws.com/academia.edu.documents/33906480/smith-gillespie-07.pdf?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAIWOWYYGZ2Y53UL3A&Expires=1558467119&Signature=69/mHBsE2kvODXH897YkNYtBLVg=&response-content-disposition=inline;%20filename=Research_on_Professional_Development_and.pdf from 2002-2007, I believe. Formerly the Associate Director of NCSALL at Harvard and World Education, Cris is at the University of Massachusetts Amherst now in the Center for International Education cristine@educ.umass.edu . It is possible that she and Marilyn developed professional development surveys of adult educators.
