Phillipe,  I know.  I have been in contact with you.  I 'm the prospect with the Grand Banks to sell.  By the way. could you answer Georges objections to French built Cats?  i.e. does the Maryland 37 have a cored hull? What do they use to provide a hard spot for thru hulls? Are all the fitting Metric?  Maybe you could send me a much more detailed brochure, items included, options, layup schedule, etc. Dave

Phillipe,  George had the following comments on French built Cats.  His experience was with a Cantana 44 Sailcat.  Electric wires nor tinned, nonstandard electrical boards, metric hardware, poorly installed refrigeration, cored hulls, saltwater intrusion, no builtin hardspots where thru hulls were located, and excessive use of stikaflex were identified. Scary, if true. No? Dave

Dave
ON the FP side...we do not have problems with electrics and some of our
boats are getting old
Hull are cored but under water is not so thru hulls are easy to install
Harware is metric indeed but I think that it is the case everywhere (
automobile,aviation)
Refrigeration ...no comment
Salt water intrusion:It is true that some baots had problem with salt
water in the foam or core but it has been solved as technology improve
Sikaflex:It is also true that the built technique ( boxes glued to boxes
) left some Caulking visible in place with width of 1 to 2 inches. It is
not a structural defect in anyway and I think that all the production
baots in Europe or the US are now glued instead of being fiberglass
tabbed
Have a good day
