Hi all,
I thought it might be helpful for those who were not here during the installation of the speed bumps to know the story.
Originally we had no through streets. No stop signs, no speed bumps.  As the community grew, so did our needs.  Along the way, we had challenges but have always tried to work though those  differences.  We had the common goal of having a community that works for all of us.  Some of us stayed and raised children  here(or in our case a grandson with his mother here too).. Babies were born, graduations and weddings were celebrated, some families moved on, others moved in.  So if those of us who were here to see this growth seem a little protective we are  We have tried a number of things, some worked some didn't. But what did work was the growth of a community, not just a bunch of houses where people did not really know each other.
So how does that fit with the speed bumps?  First there was discussion about whether we needed stop signs.  Then about the problem of cars not stopping.  Then about the problem of cars speeding through the neighborhood.  So the decision was to add speed bumps.  Why right before the stop signs? Because that helped at least slow down the cars, hopefully to stop.  Most do, some don't but at least it's safer for all of us, including the children at the park area.
This is not a perfect community but we are all interested in the same goal, to have a safe and enjoyable place to live from the youngest of us to the oldest of us.  We really do take care of each other because we care.
There may be a time when Jed and I cannot maintain a large house any longer.  I hope not.  As one of my friends once said, my next move it going to be to Porter-Loring.  I kinda feel that way too.
Respectfully,Julia

Nicely stated, Julia.  The sense of community here is the best part of the neighborhood.

Best,
Shannon
