Actually there is no real TrawlerCatMarine design.  TCM's stuff was
originally designed by Crowther and has only seen modifications by TCM.  The
changes you see to mine were made by Pacific Coast Boats.  Double-Wide
started out as a joint-venture by TCM and Pacific Coast Boats, but TCM
backed out about half-way through.  Fortunately, Pacific Coast Boats stuck
by me to finish the boat.

There is nothing wave-piercing about the bows.  The design simply cuts the
hull at the front of a continuous section and slides it forward and is then
filled out.  It gives a much longer LWL without making the boat itself
longer.  The OAL of the boat is something over 47-ft with the beam of each
hull about 6.5-ft and the overall beam just over 23-ft.  It is not a slim
Tennant-style hull with a high length to beam ratio - hull beam is over 6-ft
at the waterline.  That would certainly provide better fuel economy, but I
didn't like the cramped hull spaces it provides.  It may seem strange for
someone who does a lot of sustainable engineering work in developing
countries to sacrifice a little fuel, but I spent many years in
transportation and when it isn't easy or convenient, maintenance just
doesn't get done.
