SMS testing

If you intend to use your Sat phone or cell phone to receive Short Message
Service(SMS) it is a good idea to test the system out as the email address
is a bit long.
Generally the messages can be 120 or 160 characters in length, use an id
consisting of the phone number plus some service provider name like
vtext.com or some such.

1015551212@vtext.com

or similar.

The subject line plus the body text are counted as part of the message
character count.

In most cases the phone service provides a web page where you can type in
the number and then enter the message. Iridium, Verizon and Cingular each
have such pages.

Scott Bulger will have access to the numbers where I can be reached while
on passage. He has volunteered to keep an eye on us. Woe be he if he flubs
this up.
