FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 20, 2019
___________

The City of Auburn and the Auburn Arts Commission are pleased to announce that artist Elise Koncsek has been selected as the 2019 Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence.

Koncsek looks forward to addressing questions during her residency. "How much of who we are is circumstantial, biological, or something else? How would the history of the farm and the choices made by the people living and working there change if given different social dynamics, technology, or environmental factors? How can I learn from my background and environment but take control of my own future?" The artist invites us to "...take a moment to reflect on how we see ourselves and consider the immense POTENTIAL each person has, despite apparent limitations."

The Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence is a City of Auburn program offering the opportunity for an artist to pursue their work in, and to be inspired by, the unique and beautiful setting of the Mary Olson Farm in Auburn, Washington. The residency lasts two months from June through July. Free events include Open Studio days on July 6 and July 27 and Workshop on July 20 (pre-registrationhttps://apm.activecommunities.com/auburnwa/Activity_Search/4526 required.)
