Shared Housing Services (SHS) will be unveiling a mural by local artist
Kate Cendejas on July 15th at 2pm (at S. 11th/S. I St. in the heart of
Hilltop). Funding was provided by the City of Tacoma through its
Neighborhood Innovative Grant. We wanted to share the announcement:

"Shared Housing Services  (SHS) has been serving community members needing
assistance to stay in their homes or those who needing a place to call home
for 28 years. SHS is honored to be part of the Hilltop neighborhood for the
past 20 years. The greater Hilltop neighborhood, a work in progress, has
been transformed from a blighted area to a vivacious, thriving community.
An urban community that is rich in diversity, culture and art.  Shared
Housing Services' mural project will celebrate the district’s renewal.  The
location of the mural at the corner of a busy thoroughfare, South 11th
Street and South ‘I’ Street, will be seen by all those traveling daily from
downtown to the heart of Hilltop.  The mural replacing a blank wall will be
a welcome marker to the community. SHS is thankful to the City of Tacoma
and the New Tacoma Neighborhood Council for their support of this project."
