Dear David & Barbara,

Your trip sounds adventuresome and loads of fun!
I am wondering when you did the Loop in 2005 if you went down the
Eastern shore of Lake Michigan to the rivers?  If not and while you
are here, I highly recommend seeing some of these areas which could
include Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Island, Charlevoix the
Beautiful, Leland & wine country, Hemingway's Petoskey with devine
shopping, Bay Harbor or Harbor Springs.  Most have excellently located
& excellent municipal docks operated by the state parks system &
reservations can be made online.  Michigan is a hidden treasure just
as the Trent-Severn Waterway.  I enjoyed your note, too.

We too loved the Trent when we looped in 2005. This year we are
going back again only straight up the Hudson this time to Sorel.
Then the Riedeau through Ottawa and down to Kingston. We skipped
this part the first time so that part will be all new. Will then
cruise the Trent again and parts of Georgian Bay over to Killarney
and Little Current. We then plan going down the east coast of
Michigan, crossing Lake Erie and follow the whole Erie Canal back to
the Hudson and lead the fall back down to Florida. Hope to see some
of you along the way.

Hello Gentlemen et al,

I am jealous of Alan's four time passage of the Trent-Severn
Waterway!  This is wonderful!  : )
It is clearly one of the highlights of the Great Loop/Circle Cruise in
our book!  Unfortunately, too many people are still unaware of this
one-of-a-kind waterway and its variety of locks including the two
largest hydraulic lifts in the world and the railroad car lock!  These
are locks in history books so to have the opportunity to go through
locks like these, and then, see the magnificent scenery on top of
this, well, is out of this world!
We plan to take our second trip from Severn to Trent this summer.

Thank you,

Fran Johnson

Alan
Thanks for the reference URL.
We will be Looping this summer.
Exactly what permits should we buy for our canal travels in Canada?
We will
be coming down from Ottawa through the Rideau .
Thanks
R.

We agree the Trent-Severn is outstanding.    Last season we cruised
the
entire waterway for the fourth time!    Now Parks Canada has a new
web-site
for
you to order your seasonal  lockage permit.  Cruise over to
