I have researched that a utility cannot disconnect residential electricity
when the heat index is 101 degrees or higher. However, i did not see how
long the prohibition on a disconnect can continue. The concern of the
municipality is that the temperature is supposed to drop into the 80s and
low 90s this weekend before exceeding 100 degrees again. So if the
municipality were to shut off electricity during the sub-101 degree days,
would it then have to resume service for these same disconnected
individuals when the temperature goes back up to 101?!
Is the utility was disconnected before the heat index reached 100 degrees, would the municipality be required to resume service until the heat index dropped below 101 degrees?
