TWL: GlobalStar Longdistance Rates

The following is from the Globalstar site.
Note that you can't get a rate from them, only a demonstration.
What I think of this sort of thing is not fit to put into print.
I would avoid Globalstar until this long distance stuff is laid down in
concrete.
It may be possible to bypass their outrageous long distance rates using
some of the card systems.

"These per minute rates are projected estimates only. The exchange rate
used in converting
per minute rates is for demonstration
purposes. Due to local currency exchange rate
fluctuations, the exchange rates and per
minute rates are subject to change at any time,
without prior notice. The actual long
distance rate for a Globalstar satellite call will be
computed within approximately 30 days of the
call. The per minute rate will be computed using
the currency exchange rate on the day
Globalstar USA receives the billing record for the call. "

I expect to have an Iridium phone to experiment with next week. Let you
know what I think of it when I get back. I think but have not confirmed
that their long distance rates are more stable.

Capt. Mike Maurice
Near Portland Oregon.
