As a Florida-based DeFever owner (49RPH) looking to go offshore/foreign, I
am having quite a bit of difficulty finding US-based insurance
carriers. While I can find coverage in the London market, it appears
I had the same problem when I started looking
World Cruising Insurance. Currently the
boat is in Spain. Last year we did more then
10 different countries and 14,000 miles. Needless
to say most insurance companies were not
interested in our business.
I am currently in Spain with a Nordhavn 47,
and use Shorepoint Insurance.

When I checked they had more flexible coverage
requirements then any of the other companies
(hey they insured me!),
and seems to provide coverage that was more
comprehensive (my cruising area was East of
Hawaii all of the Atlantic to Western Europe)
They included War risks... Oh they did not require
any extra crew for crossings.
Most of the Power boats I actually talk to cruising
the World are using Shorepower Insurance
they usually say because there are no additional
crew requirements etc, wide cruising areas etc.
No interest just a happy customer.
