Rain Water Collection for the Home

March 19 and April 11, 6-8 p.m.

Tacoma

Dan Borba from Down to Earth Gadgets and Gizmos is back to guide class
participants through assembly of their very own rain barrel - a great
water conservation tool to be used this summer when the rains decrease,
but irrigation demands increase.  Uses for collected rain water and
instructions on how to set up and connect multiple barrels will be
given.  To make the grant go further, each barrel and assembly kit is
$35, although those not making a barrel are welcome to come at no cost.
Each class is limited to 25 participants and only one barrel per
household.  Pre-registration is required by calling (253) 845-9770 x
106.

Cisterns:  The Next Step in Water Collection

May 2, 6-8 p.m.

Tacoma

Move over rain barrel, it's time to make way for the cistern!  This free
class is for those who want to know how to store thousands of gallons of
collected rainwater at home in a larger cistern system.  You'll learn
the basics and benefits of cisterns and how a cistern system works from
Nikola Davidson of EarthSystemsNW.  Learn to customize a rainwater
harvesting system for your indoor and outdoor needs and where to turn
for local resources.  Save money, prevent storm water pollution, and
collect rainwater for home use-be cistern savvy!  Pre-register by
calling 253 845-9770 x 106.
