My wife and I drove up to Pier 39 in San Francisco to see the Earthrace
trimaran. When we arrived my wife decided she wasn't interested in going
aboard. From the dock one could see some of the interior. It appeared
claustrophobic from the dock. When I went aboard I found the interior has a
black coating. The interior is very Spartan. The instrument arrangement
looked difficult to observe. Visibility through the aerodynamic windshield
seems limited. The sleeping area is forward in the "nose" area, which even
sitting at dock and at the back of the marina one could feel considerable
more motion than elsewhere on the vessel. For a look at the vessel layout
pull up: http://www.earthrace.net/
Boarding and disembarking is difficult as the entry hatch feels restricted.
I'm sorry I don't have more positive observations as I'm supportive of
trying unique vessel designs, lowering fuel consumption and using
alternative fuels.
