Hey,
There is currently a NW gale pounding Lambton Shores and it produced a fantastic shoreline movement this morning. From 10 to 12, I had a juvenile Sabine's, 6 Parasitic and one juv. Pomarine Jaeger, 5 Brant, one Red-necked Phalarope, 26 + Red-throated Loon as well as thousands of waterfowl and gulls all moving southward.
The conditions are keeping things right on the shoreline, providing some wonderful looks. I would think that most of these birds would be available, at some point today, to observers farther south along the Huron shore. The dog and I got too wet and cold and needed to warm up and dry off but will try again this afternoon.
To reach Ipperwash Beach, take Army Camp Road to the lake and then pick a spot.
Cheers,
James H
