The city has received many complaints of noxious odors emitting from MMJ dispensaries from other businesses and customers/clients in strip centers. We are considering pro-active ways to address this problem including requiring dispensaries to locate in free standing buildings even though we otherwise treat them like pharmacies in our zoning code (the odor problem is unique) or adopting odor mitigation requirements in our building code. Have any of your cities adopted a solution that you recommend or don't recommend? (I think I asked a couple years ago about what cities had implemented odor mitigation requirements but curious whether they've worked). Thanks!
