Hello,
Nick Bonomo, Hannah Tetreault, and I enjoyed a strong finch flight
this morning at Hammonasett Beach State Park. We concentrated our
efforts in the south west corner of the West Beach parking lot. Purple
Finch, House Finch, American Goldfinch, and Pine Siskins were flying
west along the coast in good number, which I'm not going to attempt to
estimate. I also had a probable Common Redpoll flyby with a large
black bird flock. I photographed this Hudsonian Godwit on our way out
of the park around noon. Website:

It was foraging in the tear-shaped island of grass encircled by the
roundabout at the entrance of Meig's point. We also had the two Cave
Swallows and Rough-winged Swallow at east shore park in New Haven
around 1:00pm.
Good Birding,
E.J. Raynor
