12/17/10 - Guilford, 120 Indian Cove Rd -- CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD.

12/17/10 - Sterling, 179 Main St -- female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD
continues for 68th day at feeder in backyard behind garage. Birders
are welcome. Look for orange arrow on guardrail. Park in driveway.
Also at feeders. PINE SISKIN ( 50+ daily) and FOX  SPARROW (3).

12/17/10 - Westport, Longshore Park (Grays Creek) -- BARNACLE GOOSE
continues exactly in the same spot I saw it early yesterday morning,
sleeping on the small island in Grays Creek.
Compo Beach -- 1 NORTHERN GANNET.
Sherwood Island SP -- adult SNOW GOOSE, first spotted in the marsh and
then a few minutes later flying overhead all by itself towards the
sound and then west; FOX SPARROW.

12/17/10 - Southbury, River Road -- 8 Bald Eagles.
Southbury, Audubon Center at Bent of the River -- 1 American Pipit
flyover.

12/17/10 - Norwich yard -- unidentified Oriole visiting feeders for
about two weeks now.

From Frank Gallo and Mark Szantyr:
12/17/10 - Stontington, Stontington Point -- no Black Guillemots, but
17 Common Eider, including 6 adult males, 20 Purple Sandpipers
(distant).
Guilford, 120 Indian Cove Rd -- Calliope Hummingbird.

12/17/10 - Middletown, Brown Street feeder -- YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKER. At least 3 other SAPSUCKERS have shown up in December. Each
has come here alone, has eaten voraciously at the feeder's suet cakes,
and then flown off in a few minutes.
