According to the USMA class of 57 web site:
Phil Ritchey (and '57 crew) arrived in Australia on their "round-the-world"
cruise. However due to unanticipated repairs and delays the VENTURE
expedition is presently on hold in Darwin. Time constraints may require a
"strategic withdrawal at this juncture even though the crew is still "gung
ho". All options are being considered. Any changes will be posted as they
become certain.
Scott.
From her www.yachtworld.com $800,000 listing with location in Darwin,
Australia:
"Venture is one of the most complete Nordhavn 43s on the market today. Her
owners prepared her for a Circumnavigation of the world. She has gone from
Dana Point, CA to Australia where she now lies. Do to change in the owners
plan they will not be completing this great adventure. The following items
will also be included!!! Three more sets of anchors, snubber lines, extra
fenders, sea anchor, numerous spares and filters for engine and gen-set.
Many tools, misc hardware, spare water pump, spare main and high water bilge
pumps, complete galley ware to include utensils, plates, glassware, food and
supplies. Two large boat-deck fiberglass boxes, barbeque, window blinds and
shades, bedding, sleeping bags, towels. Extra life preservers, flares,
Offshore life raft, fully equipped abandon ships bag, binoculars, 2 fishing
rod holders, flag poles and spare flag halyards. Also included are the
charts and C-Map cartography for an equatorial circumnavigation. If one
wanted they could purchase this fine yacht and continue on around the world,
this may well be the opportunity of a lifetime."
Sounds like all they took with them were clothes and toiletries. I'm sorry
they had to terminate the circumnavigation and will be interested to hear
what equipment repairs are required.
