Dear all,
I have read somewhere that the XCVR2450 daughter boards have an RSSI
measurement that can be read from software. Does any one tried it via
Simulink or GNURadio or have any knowledge about it.

Best Regards
Usman Ali

Hi Usman Ali,

it's a sensor that you can read using get_dboard_sensor()
http://gnuradio.org/doc/doxygen/classgr_1_1uhd_1_1usrp__source.html#ac099e8d21b818fb9bc31a357d218021c
from within GNU Radio; the sensor name is "rssi", and it returns a
value in dBm (as double).
Refer to
http://files.ettus.com/uhd_docs/doxygen/html/classuhd_1_1usrp_1_1multi__usrp.html#acd37d327931cec64e3701eb2a5aa7bfb

to see how it's done directly using UHD.

I seem to be repeating myself, but: Be careful when using something
like an RSSI. Received Signal Strength always relative to some
signal model, incorporating considered bandwidth, assumptions on the
modulation scheme, duration of transmission, generally: It's a
estimation of received signal strength based on some property of
the received signal. If that estimator fits your signal well depends
on your signal!

The RSSI value depends on the LNA setting! The UHD source code
(uhd/host/lib/usrp/dboard/db_xcvr2450.cpp tells us to have a look at
the MAX2829 Datasheet p. 16, to understand what's really going on here.
