I believe I have heard of municipalities requiring that law
enforcement sign an agreement obligating individuals in its PD to a certain
term of employment if the individual goes through the CLEET
certification process while actively employed by the municipality. One of
my municipalities is inquiring about such an agreement.
My question is what damages or consequences others have used in these
agreements, such as pay reimbursement, reimbursement for ammunition, etc?

Shooting from the hip a little, there is a provision in the CLEET statute that anyone hiring a CLEET certified officer within a certain period has to repay the municipality that paid CLEET. I don’t remember the details, but I think it may have been within one year(?) and up to $25,000(?).
Good Luck!
