Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes

OK, a week or so ago I asked this list for help in making a dinghy towing harness. I got some interesting replies, but most were for purchasing towing harness's which lead me to believe that the day of men making things is apparently coming to an end.
Many people did say that they had bought a harness from West Marine for $75.00 so I went to look at their harness and see if I could make something similar. While looking at it, a saleslady came over and said they had another towing harness on sale for $14.99. Now after years of going to West Marine and seeing their high prices for everything, one should know that for $14.99 it must be true junk. That said, the lady went and got me one to look at. I immediately thought I could take the harness apart and get $50 in parts so I bought one and brought it back to the boat and installed it on the dinghy. It worked really good and was superior to the one I saw for $75. I called West Marine and ordered two more - one as a spare for me and the other as a gift for the next boater that has trouble towing his dinghy.
If you want to buy one for yourself, the SKU/item number is: 12936563.
