Visitors:
Thank you to our observers today, Michelle, Noel and John, and thanks to
our visitor Steve for your company and interest in the watch!

Weather:
Today was another sunny day on the tower with light winds from the south
east most of the day. There was a haze that persisted all day. Temperature
is reached about 10°C.

Raptor Observations:
It was quite slow again today however, the majority of raptors were red
tailed hawks, followed by a red shouldered hawks. We had four late migrant
turkey vultures, a few Harriers, a couple, Cooper’s hawks and a couple
sharpies. We also had a gorgeous golden eagle in full juvenile plumage to
the north.

Non-raptor Observations:
As the ice melted today, the duck spread out slightly more however, the
majority were still mallards, mixed with a few pintails and black duck. The
great blue herons have decreased in numbers slightly and they were to
Sandhill cranes on the marsh today. The Wilson’s snipe made another
appearance, in good view. A few more sparrows were active today including
fox sparrow. Goldeneye, Bufflehead, and common merganser were seen on the
lakeside.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks to be another nice weather day with sunny, warmer
temperatures. The wind may have a northern component so we are hopeful for
some interesting migrants!
