East Coast Cruise & Power Catamaran design

Mike Petersen pointed out that he was always able to access a marina when
travelling up & down the East Coast of the USA. I have been told the same by
other owners of my  power cat designs. From my point of view this is good news
Because while Chrysalis might seem to have extreme beam at 25', in comparison
with a lot of other of my designs it is positively anorexic! The NY 57 is 29'
6", the Awesome was 26' and the new Adriatic is 32.8'

He also pointed out that the CS hull, with its beaching skeg, not only
protects the running gear but also enable the boats with this hull form to dry
out without any adverse effects. In fact this is encouraged in the design by
offsetting the rudders so the tail shaft can be withdrawn aft. This also
simplifies shipping as no cradle is needed as the boats sit quite happily on
their central beaching skegs  and aft rudder skegs. So if you have a decent
tidal rise and fall and some handy isolated beach then it is not really
necessary to slip these boats for minor maintenance.

Some 35 years ago I had a 35' Piver trimaran with a 20' beam. I never paid
for a haulout, just beached it, and was able to paint it, change the prop,
and even repair small grounding damages between tides.

Tides here are big(14-16 ft.)  In some places on the East Coast and in the
ICW the tidal range is too small to dry out a large boat.
