The Open Door
Collective (ODC) is excited to present a webinar, “An Open Door Out of Poverty”
on February 22nd from 3:00 - 4:30 pm EST given by ODC Steering
Committee member and co-founder, John Comings. (Please note the time zone and
adjust as appropriate)

This webinar
is focused on an ODC position paper: An Open Door Out of Poverty. The
paper uses the U.S. data from the Program for the International Assessment of
Adult Competencies (PIAAC) to estimate the population segments that could
benefit from ESOL, ABE, or ASE programs.  As lead author, Dr. Comings will
explain the paper’s goal, the key elements of the paper, the reasons why ODC
published it, and how it can be used to advocate for greater support for ESOL,
ABE, and ASE programs. The paper is available on the landing page of ODC’s
website: https://www.opendoorcollective.org/. John
Comings was Director of the National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and
Literacy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 1996 to
2008.  He is now a Senior Literacy Consultant at World Education in Boston.
