Dr. Erik Steighner is the featured saxophone soloist in a program of masterworks for orchestra. The concert opens with Mozart’s Overture to The Magic Flute - a familiar and playful composition. Dr. Steighner then performs a standard work of saxophone repertoire - the Glazunov Concerto for Saxophone. It is a through-composed work that showcases the virtuosity and expressivity of the saxophone. After intermission, the concert concludes with the epic Symphony No. 2 in D Major by Johannes Brahms.
