We had a great turnout today on the tower :) Weather: Another beautiful day on the tower. The morning was cool with northern winds that persisted most of the day. The afternoon warmed up and was partly cloudy. Raptor Observations: The highlight of today was the rivers of turkey vultures flying over the tower. It seems as though broad-wing migration is slowing down, we had far fewer numbers today than the rest of the week. This morning was sharpie-mania with over 100 in some hours. A few harriers and peregrines flew over as well, and many red-tailed hawks are starting to get the move on! Non-raptor Observations: There were plenty of birds today. There were so many yellow-rumped warblers! Many wood ducks and American coot were wading, and we even saw black-bellied plover, dowitcher and Wilson's phalarope. Oh, also.. PELICANS! 10 of them flew over the tower and marsh for about 10 minutes and gave everyone on the tower a great view.
