Position at noon:  36 31 N & 141 27 E
Noon to noon      181
Avg. speed:        7.5 kts
Miles to go        415  miles to Tokyo[sic] (Kushiro?)
Course bearing:    018
Sea state & wx:    ENE  5 to 15 kts,    sea  3 to 4',  sunny
Crew              Ben, Brad, Kevin & Kurt
Remarks:
I forgot to mention yesterday that we have a new sailor aboard.  Kurt Fink
joined us in Tokyo from GP Canada.  He is an old friend, daring and fun to
have around.  We took some of the hay seeds out of his ears before we let
him go downtown Tokyo.  He plans to stay until Nome for what we expect will
be one of our most interesting crossings.
Interesting traffic including a large submarine and tall ship close.  It is
truly hard to imagine such continuous dense traffic.  Heavy traffic still
around the corner and out to sea after dark we had our closest call with a
ship that had a flashing red light as well as a green, which was less bright
on the starboard.  We thought we were looking at the port side and were
making corrections accordingly until we were uncomfortably close and saw the
bow wave in the light reflections and quickly took evasive action.
So glad we included Tokyo.
