To All -
Attached are the Cruising Fleet racing results for 2015. We hope we did
the record keeping and calculations correctly. If you find any mistakes, or
have any questions, please let us know. Only one racer, John Sheehan, took
credit for being on Race Committee or Race Patrol. I think we should
encourage that practice more next year. Congratulations to the winners! I
really liked the crossover this year between the spinnaker and the
non-spinnaker groups. The more you race, the better you do no matter which
division you are in.
Some statistics - we completed 14 out of 18 races on Wednesday nights
(77.8%). That's the best we've ever done. We lost only two nights due to
thunderstorms, and two nights due to no wind.
Overall there were 54 races scheduled on Sundays, Regattas and
Wednesdays - the spinnaker group raced in 19 races (35.2%), and the
non-spinnaker group raced in 32 races (59.3%). We lost 12 race days due to
no wind (22.2%), and 6 race days due to storms or high winds (11.1%).
That's roughly 30% racing time lost to the weather.
The Howard Bissinger Perpetual Trophy Award for best Wednesday Night
racing attendance will be shared by John Michael (Encore) and Don Meeker
(Margaret). Congratulations to both skippers for 100% attendance!
Bottom line - we've had a pretty good year. With 35 boats racing (11
spinnaker, 24 non-spinnaker), our attendance is the highest it has ever been
for the Cruising Fleet.
Cruising Fleet awards for Wednesday Night and Sunday/Regatta racing
will be given out at our Pot Luck Dinner on Saturday, November 14th at 6 pm.
(See details below). We used to give these awards out in February, but many
asked Why do we wait five months to give out our awards? Fair question! So
we moved the awards dinner up to mid-November while our racing stories and
adventures are still fresh in everyone's mind.
The Club Annual Racing Awards & Installation of Officers Dinner will be
December 6th at the Seaport Restaurant in Nyack. The Awards for 2015 Overall
Racing Performance will be presented to both the Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker
by the Club to winning skippers and crew. Contact Cliff Selover by November
15th to make a reservation for this big event. The cost is $58/person, but
worth every penny to applaud fellow Club members, and celebrate another
great year at NBC.
See you around the Club.
