Hi Rudy:

Several questions first; Was the present injector new or rebuilt? How many hours on the present injector? Has the present injector been serviced for any reason? Depending on the answers could be a factor in doing a rebuilt or a new one. There is a reason why the rebuilt is $250 versus new at $1200 and that would be longevity depending on your future cruising time. The condition of the pipes are a factor as well. Not necessarily an easy decision. Be safe and well Leonard Stern, INDIFFERENCE

Leonard, the injector pump had approximately 6000 hours on it, not sure as
the engine was used when I bought it. I asked the shop about reasonable
service hours until a rebuild and they said, about 3000 to 5000 hours, it
all depends on the quality of the fuel- debris and lubricity. I would have
had it rebuilt earlier, but I wanted to see how many hours I'd get before
it started acting up. I rely on the shop, once they get the pump apart, to
determine if it could be rebuilt or a new pump had to be installed. Pumps,
and injectors, can usually be rebuilt unless a non-replaceable part is
damaged, or so many 'hard' parts need to be replaced that a new item would
the better choice. I really like injector shops. All of the ones that I've
dealt with seem to have been in business for years and I find them very
knowledgeable...but some are more willing to share and talk, others less so.
