Hello to All,

The Admiral and I are in the process of selling or renting everything that won't fit on the boat and plan to depart for Costa Rica, Panama and the Caribbean about this time next year. After the Caribbean, probably the South Pacific with a year in the PNW and West coast in between, we have no great desire to circumnavigate. We are taking the oft repeated advice of "do it now", we're in our mid forties and want enjoy many years of cruising and living aboard.

We purchased our boat, OuttaHere, in Sep of this year. She is a one off, custom built boat, about 60' LOA, 16' beam, 6.5' draft, single, keelcooled, drystacked Detroit 8V71N. She holds 3000 gallons of fuel on four tanks feeding a 250 gallon day tank. OuttaHere has quite a story, the hull is a Seaton design and she was built by a now elderly couple, they did it all - built the plug and mold, had the hull laid up and did almost all of the remaining construction themselves. They started this project almost twenty years ago and health related issues forced the sale of the boat when she was about 80-90% complete. You can see the boat in the condition we bought her at http://share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=EeBNXDhwzaNXaw

Prior to finding our boat we were looking at the Nordhavn 46, Krogens and DeFevers, budget would have limited us to 10-15 year old boat. We decided to take a gamble on buying and completing this boat and so far have not regretted the decision. One advantage of doing this much work on the boat is that I now know where everything is and how it works.

Since our purchase of the boat, we have designed and installed the 12 volt system, installed nav and com electronics, fresh water system and the list goes on and on and on. She is presently in Ensenada, MX for some cosmetic paint and glass work.

Thanks to Georgs for starting this list, I'm looking forward to learning from the list's experience and hopefully I can contribute something back.

Safe boating,

John Pounder
