Bandit Theater is excited to announce our first ever Tacoma class is now
registering for January 2024.
Only 14 spots available, reserve your spot for $300! Class will meet from
7:00pm - 9:00pm on Mondays from January 8th -February 26th at the Tacoma
Armory.
Improv 1: You Are Enough Improv 1: You Are Enough is a 8-week longform
improv class and the first level of Bandit Theater’s Improv Training
Program. If you’re looking to build confidence, make new friends, and have
A TON of fun improvising, this is the space for you. No experience
necessary! Bandit Theater teaches a longform improv curriculum,
terminology, and philosophy centered upon game of the scene and shared by
the major improv houses from New York, Los Angeles, DC, New Orleans, and
elsewhere! With this in mind, Improv 1: You Are Enough is perfect for
beginners and a refreshing new perspective for improvisers who have
previously taken classes in shortform, narrative, or other styles of
longform improv. If you’re new to improv, welcome! We’re so excited to
include you in our supportive community of performers. In this class you
will: Learn the fundamentals of longform improv including Yes And, Base
Reality, and the First Unusual Thing.
Experience an environment where fun is just as important as learning. Get
individualized attention and notes in a positive, professional manner.
LAUGH UNTIL YOUR FACE HURTS. Additionally, all Bandit Theater improv
classes include the following: Bandit Theater student passes, granting free
tickets to all Bandit Theater mainstage shows for the duration of the
class. Optional live performance opportunities in The Hot Hot Suggie Show,
our staff-and-student mashup showcase.
Improv 1 is taught by Annie Barry. Annie is the Founder and Artistic
Director of Bandit Theater. Annie started improv in 2009 but has been
performing since 1992. She holds a BA in Theater Arts from Loyola
University New Orleans, and a Masters of Improv and Sketch from the Upright
Citizen's Brigade New York City. Annie was a performer at UCB for 5 years
before moving to Washington DC to teach, perform and direct at Washington
Improv Theater. She moved to Seattle in 2018 to Found Bandit. She is a
performer on Swipe Right and The Reader at Bandit. This is her first class
in Tacoma.

Our class will meet with classrooms with a maximum capacity between 20 and
40 people. Our class will be capped at 14 students maximum.
Accessibility
The Tacoma Armory is at 1001 S. Yakima Ave Suite 1, Tacoma, WA 98405. The
entrance for class is by the box office on the right side of the building
marked box office. The space is ADA accessible. Parking is free on the
street outside the Armory.

Payment Options
The full price of Improv 1: You Are Enough is $300. If you're interested in
this class but find the cost prohibitive, Bandit Theater has a few
alternative payment options available. If any of the following interest
you, please email classes@bandittheater.org.
- Weekly or twice-monthly payment plans for students preferring to
spread out their tuition cost.
- A limited number of work-study opportunities for qualified students
interested in trading 8 hours of work (doors and house management at shows)
for class tuition.
- A limited number of diversity scholarships to remove the financial
burden on students from underrepresented backgrounds. This may include but
is not limited to race, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,
age, or ability.
Refund Policy
Students may cancel their class registration and request a refund up to one
week prior to their class’ start date. Requests made after this one week
cut-off will not be honored. If you have any questions about our refund
policy or would like to request a refund, please email
classes@bandittheater.org.

- Students may not miss any more than two class sessions. Students that
miss a third class session may continue attending but are not permitted to
move on to the next class level.
- Absences related to COVID-19 symptoms are excused, regardless of your
attendance record. If you feel even minor symptoms, please stay home.
- Students that have previously completed this course are welcome to
take it again.
- Make-up classes are not offered this quarter.
- You must be at least 18 years old to participate in this class.
