Kingston Area Birds: 5th - 11th September 2020

Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintains records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with 'Kingston FN'. Alternatively, please email or send records
directly to me - contact details below. Please note that some sightings may
require review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise.

Highlights:

With a shift towards more northerly winds (and accompanying cooler weather),
migration has been visible in the area. Here are the highlights of the last
week:

RED-NECKED GREBE - a single bird was seen at Prince Edward Point on 7th.

RED-NECKED PHALAROPE - an immature bird put on a brief show at Amherstview
Sewage Lagoons on 8th but was not seen again on 9th until a single
observation later in the evening. It has not been seen since.

LEAST BITTERN - a single bird was seen at Amherstview Sewage Lagoons on 8th
and 9th.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER - an adult was seen in Kingston on 7th, with 1-2 birds
seen at the known location of Frontenac Provincial Park on 8th and 11th.

GREY-CHEEKED THRUSH - there have been a number of slightly early
observations this week, including birds at Prince Edward Point and area, Big
Sandy Bay - Wolfe Island, Black Rapids, and Marshlands CA, Kingston.

EVENING GROSBEAK - 2 birds were seen at Prince Edward Point on 6th.

RED CROSSBILL - 3 flyovers were noted at Little Cataraqui Creek CA,
Kingston, on 9th.

PINE SISKIN - a single bird was noted at Prince Edward Point on 6th.
