I represent a city that is catching some flack about a non-profit (Chamber
of Commerce) who appears to have been somewhat involved in a political race.
It lent its name to a dinner for the police and fire put on by a candidate
the Friday before the election. The candidate said all he wanted was to
honor the police and fire. I wouldn't let the city or its trust be involved
in any way other than those off duty could obviously attend. There are
folks mad, apparently on both sides of the issue. Has anyone helped put
together a policy for a city to follow concerning what is necessary or
forbidden for it to support a non-profit?
Thanks,
Ted
