Fellow Municipal Attorneys: I made demand in writing to our county treasurer pursuant to Title 68 Section 3129(B) regarding a property that went up for sale in Atoka County. The property did not sale and it was my understanding that property would then be conveyed to the City of Atoka instead of the County. I am being told by the County Treasurer that the City would have to pay the property taxes for that to occur. Has anyone had any experience with this and if so, is it a correct interpretation of the statute that the City would have to pay the taxes before receiving a deed?
