Trent-Severn Waterway high water

There has been some discussion on the T&T List regarding the closure of
the Erie Canal due to high water and resulting damage and repairs.

We're a little over half-way through the T-S Waterway and every time we
ask a lock tender they report that the T-S is on the brink of closing
due to high water (it's been that way since we started at Trenton on
June 15th. Apparently they close the waterway when someone considers
that the current from the run off in the spillways creates hazardous
navigation. Approaching a few up-lifting locks on our northbound transit
the current has been very strong; it would be more troublesome for a
cruiser entering a down-lowering lock as you'd be going with the current
when approaching the lock entrance, making steering a bit more difficult.

We haven't had any substantial rain for a week or more, so that is a
good thing; if there is more rain, the threat of closure would increase.
