The next few years could see many changes to local recycling and waste reduction programs. You can help shape those changes and improvements by becoming a member of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC).
The 15-member SWAC meets at least quarterly and has openings for a few new members. By becoming a committee member, not only will you help explore ways to expand and improve Pierce County's current recycling and waste reduction programs, but toward the end of 2012, you will help create the framework for future programs by updating the comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan.
All interested citizens are encouraged to apply. Having representatives of young adults and businesses are especially needed to fill out the committee. To learn more about the SWAC and how to apply for membership, visit our website or call (253) 798-2179.
