Listees,

I have a 56 custom trawler that I purchased uncompleted, I estimate her present weight at 38 tons. I have completed the major systems and have put about 100 hours on the boat.

She has a wineglass transom, a very rounded hull form and a tendency to roll pretty dramatically in moderate conditions. During a recent passage, we rolling 15% fairly often and 20% on occasion in 2-5 aft, quartering seas.

She has no ballast at this time (other than 2000Lbs of AGM batteries mounted as low as I could get them. The original designer has not returned my calls or emails and I recieved only very basic plans from the builder/previous owner.

I would appreciate input from owners of similar size/displacement boats as to how much ballast they carry and how thier boats handle.

I would also be interested in finding a Naval Architect in the Southern California area to help me with this issue.

My thoughts are with any of you effected by Katrina.

Thanks,

John
