Adding details to "User Details"

CSpace Administrators here at UCB have several times expressed the desire
to include additional information with a user's profile.  Minimally, they'd
like to be able to make a few notes about the user, to record some formal
metadata such as title, contact info, to record an "end date" or "review
date" for a user's account, and to be able to group users, perhaps using
some sort of tags.  More ambitiously, they would like users themselves to
be able to flesh out their own profiles, as one can do in e.g. JIRA and
GitHub -- a photo, favorite quote, interests, etc etc.

In the design docs and early JIRA issues for CSpace, there seems to be some
anticipation of this, and that this would somehow be handled by relating
user records to person records (at least, that's how I interpret these
documents).

See, e.g. CSPACE-887 and CSPACE-1011

and

https://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/collectionspace/Wireframes+-+Administration+-+User

Our question: is there a way to do any of this now? Is there a best
practice or document explaining how to do this?  Perhaps we have missed
those details somehow...

TYIA!

Hi John,

Thanks for this. This could really help at PAHMA, where we have several
dozen accounts active at any time. Currently, I have to track this
information in a binder full of paper, which requires me to do regular
manual checks of all accounts to make sure there aren't any accounts that
are still active after the date they were supposed to be retired. Having
this information captured in CSpace would make this part of my job less
time-consuming and would make our instance of CSpace more secure.
