We are searching for an outgoing, energetic person with a proven background in creating engaging and innovative environmental lessons through artistic expressions.
Primary responsibilities for this position will be teaching and creating environmental lessons to K-8 students in a classroom setting during the school year (could include older students at times), staffing the City's Environmental Services community events outreach booth, teaching summer camps, and creating art environmental lessons. We hope to foster students' desire to make changes in daily life to promote environmental lessons, build relationships with schools and environmental communities partners to promote environmental sustainability.
Our Ideal Candidate will enjoy working with students, will enjoy working in a team environment, will possess excellent communication skills, and have good planning, project management and evaluation skills, along with a professional and courteous attitude.
If you have the following skills and abilities in the list below, then you are the person we are searching for to join our team!:
- Background in researching program requirements, developing training materials and presenting lessons to the public and school communities.
- Artistically creative and passionate in seeking new ways to approach STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) powered classrooms.
- Enjoys and excels in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
- Is highly engaged in their work, a self-starter whose enthusiasm for environmental sustainability encourages and motivates others to participate.
- Loves to connect with people during community outreach events in providing program information to the public.
- A lifelong learner who seeks out knowledge about current trends in environmental issues and topics to support lessons and discussions.
