Music from Home presents two piano recitals in Aug. and Sept. at Lakewold Gardens

Lakewold Garden’s monthly concert series Music from Home presents two piano recitals in August and September in the intimate setting of Wagner House. On Aug. 6th Cuban-American pianist and UW faculty member Cristina Valdés takes the stage with a program including a selection of Gabriela Ortiz’ Estudios entre preludios, a set of pieces by Cuban composers including Tania León’s Mística, Lecuona’s La Comparsa, selections from Amadeo Roldán’s Tres piezas cubanas, two Danzas by René Touzet, and works by Haydn and Debussy.

On Sept. 10 Colorado-based Argentinean pianist Alejandro Cremaschi presents a program comprised of Três estudos em forma de Sonatina by Oscar Lorenzo Fernândez, selections from the Suite Branca de Neve e os 7 anões by Inah Machado Sandoval, and music by Argentinean composers including Carlos Guastavino’s Sonatina in G minor and Las niñas, Lilián Saba’s El Cielo de Benito (milonga) and Malambo libre, Ginastera’s 12 Preludios americanos, and Piazzolla’s Tango rhapsody Adiós Nonino.
