Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsFellows,
Many of my devices/toys use small batteries, like AA, AAA, 9v. Does anybody
know where to find valid information on what is considered a full charge & an
empty/time to replace charge for these batteries? We have smoke alarms and
carbon monoxide monitors that I want to be sure do not go unattended.
Thanks,
Tommy
Tommy and list,
A few years ago, my wife bought a wall mounted storage rack for all small batteries which also came with a bulb and battery tester. It was purchased from "Home Improvements catalog <www.improvements.com>.
Our local volunteer fire department recommends that the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide monitors be changed at least every 6 months - many also have a test button to check for sufficient power.
On our boat, we have one CO detector which runs off the boat's 12 Volt system (cigarette lighter adaptor) and two which work on 110V - these display parts per million of carbon monoxide and are very accurate (tested by a technician who had a $1200 unit).
