From Bill Banks with Greg Hanisek:
01/16/15 - Haddam, Haddam Meadows State Park -- The Northern Shrike
was again present this morning in the top of a large tree, just to the
left of the Yellow Gate.

From Jory Teltser with Tina Green and Debbie McTigue:
01/16/15 - Stratford, Birdseye Boat Ramp -- American Bittern seen on
the South side of the water treatment outflow channel.

From Patrick Comins:
01/16/15 - Southbury -- The Greater White-fronted Goose continues on
Lake Zoar, down "river" from Mitchell Farm.  It was in the first group
of geese I encountered coming up River Road from the east.

From Brendan Murtha:
01/16/15 - Norwalk -- While walking through a swampy area at the Dolce
Center, I flushed an AMERICAN WOODCOCK that flew off through the
woods.  I nearly had a heart attack!

From Leslie Meredith:
01/16/15 - Westport -- My dog flushed an American Woodcock this
morning at 5 on our lane.  I couldn't believe my ears so I discounted
it thinking it was a month too early!

From Pam Holden:
01/16/15 - Colchester, yard -- Yellow-bellied Sapsucker has been
frequenting suet feeder for several days.

From Kevin Burgio with Carrie Cizauskas:
01/16/15 - Hamden/New Haven, East Rock Park -- 1 BROWN CREEPER, 1
COMMON RAVEN.

From John Oshlick:
01/16/15 - New Haven, Fargorge Preserve -- 1 first cycle Iceland Gull
seen from Front Street (across the Q river).

From  Robert Dixon:
01/16/15 - Sterling yard feeders -- YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER (1f).
Today Linda had a first for the year PINE SISKIN (just one) (in with
the American Goldfinches).

From SH Johnston:
01/16/15 - New Britain - 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS (adult male and female)
continue right in the heart of downtown. Very active and visible. Easy
to park and watch from the comfort of one's car. One came right down
the street, about 25 ft off the ground!
Farmington, yard -- YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER continues at suet.
Farmington Meadows (Meadow Road) -- 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK (light); I got
great looks at it hovering before the resident Red-tail chased it off,
sending it north.
