It has been brought to my attention that I need to give the fine folks on
the list a little more to work with. The boat is a 1972 54 ft. krogen
designed (identical hull design to the newer Kadey Krogens but much
stronger) full displacement trawler built by Charley Morgan. Extremely
heavey built solid glass hull, 4 full length 6 inch wide thickly
encapsolated stringers with transverse stringers spaced 5 feet apart the
full length. It was WAY overbuilt. It has twin detroit 4-53s. The iron
diesel tanks will be removed and I am planning to glass in new tankage to
the hull, about 1500 gallons total, includeing a day tank. We will install a
new westerbeke 15 kw. gen and 2 xantrex 2500 watt inverters with 16 134 a.h.
agm's. As of now the boat has no ballast. The pilothouse is over the salon
now but we are planning to move it to the front of the salon to lower the
c.g. a little, we will have a steering station and controls up there for
better visability in close quarters. The masts have been removed and we will
install a lift davit for tender and cargo handling. Any ideas will be
apreciated. thanks
