Kingston Area Birds: 26th September - 2nd October 2020

Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintains records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with 'Kingston FN'. Alternatively, please email or send records
directly to me - contact details below. Please note that some sightings may
require review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise.

Highlights:

Cool, wet weather predominated the scene over the last week with modest
migration continuing through the area. Here are the highlights of the last
week:

SNOW GOOSE - the Kingston bird first seen on 12th on Front Road near
Invista, was last seen on 27th.

RUDDY DUCK - birds returned to the area on 28th, with 3-4 individuals seen
at Marshlands CA, Kingston.

SANDHILL CRANE - 4 birds were seen at Devil Lake on 29th Sep, with 2 near
Murvale on 2nd Oct.

AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER - two birds were seen with a flock of 31
Black-bellied Plovers at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island, on 1st Oct.

SANDERLING - birds were seen at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island, on
several dates over the week with a 'high' count of 4 on 1st Oct.

GREAT EGRET - numbers have dwindled at the roost near Murvale, with 8 seen
there on 30th.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER - an adult was seen at Frontenac Provincial Park on
26th.

CAROLINA WREN - a single bird was seen at Desert Lake on 27th.

WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL - a single bird was noted at Prince Edward Point on
2nd Oct.

PINE SISKIN - birds are continuing to be seen in the area in small numbers
though 60 were seen at Prince Edward Point on 2nd Oct.

NELSON'S SPARROW - a single bird was reported at the known passage location
of Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island, on 27th with 2 seen there the
following day.
