Wild Wind IV traveled from Near Duluth Mn to Pensacola Fl.  Took just over
three weeks. I was hoping to have her hauled for the two months I would be
home.  When I called the shipyard I was told the widest boat that could be
hauled was 24'. Bill Schuman who is building a cat close by similar to WWIV
said he thought a wider boat could be hauled in the travellift. Keith from the
yard came to the marina and measured WWIV and found she was in fact 24'- 10".
He measured the well and on the outer end it was just a little wider then the
boat and further in the well it was just over 25'.  He was game to try. To not
scratch the sides they put thin neoprene on each side of the well and they
inched the boat in.  There was a little trouble with the straps and "D" rings,
but after some jockeying around they were able to lift the boat.  She is now
sitting on the hard in the repair area till I come back just after the new
year. After touching up the bottom paint she will go back in the water and we
will head for the Bahamas.

The moral of the story is, if your cat is 24'- 10" or less you can get her out
in Pensacola Ship Yard.  The large crane that you see in the guide books is no
longer in service and they don't plan to repair it.  The crew at the Ship Yard
was extremely helpful. If I ran the yard I don't know if I would have
attempted to haul my boat.

I met Listee Bob Austin while there.  He made my stay most enjoyable. He
introduced me to other circumnavigators and the bull sessions were
delightful.

If you are in the area I will be on the boat Jan. 3 for a few days before the
launch. It always if fun to talk to other listees.
