I'll BE there as I happen to live only 2 nm upstream on the Coomera
River from the Sanctuary Cove marina, the location of the Boat show.
The show this year is scheduled for May 18-21, with the Thur being
the best day to see the boats. The Boat Show office told me the
show has been sold out for some time and they have a waiting list of
vendors.
I am told that there is to be a new and larger model of the Scimitar
being introduced at the show, which is to address some of the
negatives of the internal layout, that being it was too much like a
sailing Cat i.e. side entry bunks over the tunnel, limited storage
etc. BTW -- used Scimitars do come on the market here and probably
would be a good buy for someone in the States --- check the local "
tradeaboat" site on
http://www.boatpoint.com.auwww.boatpoint.com.au. I recall the last
issue had a used Scimitar in it for about AU$500K, which seems a
little high to me as I have seen them in the mid 300's before!!
There will be a number of other new Cats there too , a new group,
Brava Marine ( http://www.bravamarine.comwww.bravamarine.com ) will
introduce a 42 ft Trawler like Cat called the Passagemaker, plus a
revised version of the Leopard now called the Brava 42 Sports Cat.
The old Leopard was a nice boat but very basic inside!!
Georgs, to update you, I couldn't stand the withdrawal pains anymore
of not having a boat here and in a impulse moment, I bought a near
new 38 ft OzyCat ( used to be Cougar Cat ) with a pair of 250 Hp
Suzuki 4 cycle outboards on her. Very nice boat, has everything
except air-con which will be going in as soon as I figure out where
to put a small genny!!
You may ask why outboards?? I had a Noosa Cat of the same size with
shaft drives and 350 Turbo Yanmars but always had problems with the
props fouling up as we leave the boat idle for 5 months of the year
while we are in Canada!! With the outboards the props can be left out
of the water. The outboards are also very nice to have as the water
around the Gold Coast is very shallow and tends to develop sand banks
where you least expect it. Another feature of the outboards is that I
can run the boat up on the beach too as long as I don't forget about
the tide!!!!
Cheers!

year on Australia's Gold Coast.
