Gibraltar update

Here is an update on Gibraltar from the Nordhavn 46 Stargazer which
wintered there:

  1. Shepherd Boat Yard is closed!  A developer bought all of the land and is
turning it into condos.  The chanderly is still there though, but no haul
out facilities exist.  The Shepherd's marina is a question mark.  The
developers are trying their hardest to get the live aboards out of there,
but they have no place to go.  And since they pay their dock fees every
month they can't make them move.  Look for big changes there once the condos
are done.  I don't think people will pay 1 million Pounds to look out on bum
    boats.

  2. The Checkout grocery store closed.  That was the real bummer!  We now
have to walk up to Morrisons (they bought Safeway) for large shopping.  Talk
is though that Morrisons wants to sell the Gibraltar store, and there are
developers lined up to buy the property.  Only time will tell what happens
    there.

Other than that, Gib is pretty much the same.

Our 2005 cruising plans are:
leaving tomorrow May 02 for Lisbon.
After Lisbon, the Galicia coast of Spain.  The bit just before the Bay of
Biscay.  It looks like some wonderful anchorages there.  Then the Atlantic
Coast of France and after that the southern coast of the UK.  We will then
make a big jump to the norther part of Denmark, and cross into the Baltic
Sea.  Again, it looks like beautiful cruising there.  And finally, in
September the canals of the Netherlands.  Our final destination for the
season will be London, St. Katherine's Docks, where we will spend the
winter.
