FW: [Mw] K2RIW Silent Key

For those of you who have not heard, see below.

BTW, if you are not seriously into VHF/UHF /Microwaves, you may not
recognize the name, but he was one of the most influential hams in that area
since before I got into it in the early 70's. Dick's wisdom about all things
radio was generally considered the last word on almost every topic,
especially antennas. More than a few of you probably have used a K2RIW
designed yagi at some point, or one derived from it.

I don't recall that I ever met him but I recall talking to him once back in
the mid-70's when I was forums chair for Hamvention and invited him to come
to Dayton to speak at the VHF forum. Even then I had picked up that he was
already considered a legend in VHF circles. He was very cordial when we
spoke on the phone, but I think he turned me down. Couldn't find my copy of
the '76 program book to verify.

Dick Knadle, K2RIW has, indeed, become a Silent Key. :<(

I knew Dick very well, a very smart man. We used to have very energetic discussions on a wide variety of RF related topics. He worked for AIL on Long Island and I once met his boss when I was there discussing an electronic warfare program with them. He had an exceptionally smart & pretty daughter as well that I met at NRAO Greenbank.

Dick & his buddy, Bruce Wood N2LIV (SK) were often seen rooting about the HF fleamarkets together.Sad to see these guys go. The hobby loses much with their passing.
