Ontario Rare Bird Alert for the week of August 7, 2020

Brant (Niagara): A very out of season bird was photographed at Westcliffe
Park in St. Catharines on August 11.
Eurasian Collared-Dove (Essex): Up to two birds have been present for
months now northwest of Leamington on Albuna Townline near the intersection
with Mersea Rd 7. Both were reported on August 12 and 13.
White-winged Dove (Chatham-Kent): This long-staying bird has been
present since April at Rondeau along Lakeshore Road south of the visitor
centre (vicinity of address 17272). It was reported August 8 and 9.
American Avocet (Essex): A single adult was seen briefly at the tip of
Point Pelee on August 11.
Marbled Godwit (Chatham-Kent): A single bird was at Keith McLean
Conservation Area on August 8.
Willet (Lambton): A single bird was at Ketle Point on August 10.
Willet (Essex): Two birds circled the tip at Point Pelee on August 11
before continuing along.
Black Vulture (Niagara): Two birds were seen flying over the Locust Grove
Picnic Area in Queenston on August 10.
Black Vulture (Grey): One bird reported near Markdale on August 13.
Swallow-tailed Kite (Dufferin): This bird was first reported to eBird by
Peter Landry on August 1 and then observed daily (August 1-13) by many
observers since then. Subsequently, a report from Tracy Muller on
iNaturalist extended the record back to at least July 23. The bird has been
seen on the east side of Luther Marsh, along Sideroad 21/22 between
the main entrance to Luther Marsh and Mallard Pond.
Dickcissel (Perth): A single bird was reported at West Perth Wetlands on
August 8.
