Each Spring and Fall, I like to remind CT Birders about the BirdCast website.

BirdCast is a great way to check for active bird migration and help you decide when to go birding.

As its name implies, BirdCast can be used to predict when birds will be moving.  Those predictions are shown on the main page:  https://birdcast.info/

BirdCast also provides live radar showing bird movement.  You can see the action here:  https://birdcast.info/migration-tools/live-migration-maps/

The migration dashboard is another great tool.  It shows detailed information about the number of birds moving, plus their altitude, direction and speed.  Here is the dashboard for Connecticut:  https://dashboard.birdcast.info/region/US-CT

The recent weather has blocked many birds from migrating into our region, but today the wind shifted and it looks like the birds are on the move!
